What is Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift)?

As we age, our skin becomes less elastic and begins to sag. This sagging skin can also affect our eyelids, making the eyes look tired and weary on a daily basis. In addition, fine lines, deep wrinkles, and puffy under-eye bags can leave us looking tired and brooding.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift) in San Diego, CA

Men and women can address these concerns with blepharoplasty. Also commonly known as eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift, blepharoplasty is a surgical cosmetic procedure that reduces excess skin and fatty bags from around the upper and lower eyelids to give patients a more bright, awake, and alert appearance. If you believe eyelid surgery is right for you, we encourage you to come in for a private consultation with Dr. Breister Ghosh. She'll be happy to sit down with you, listen to your concerns, and develop a personalized treatment plan to help you get your confidence back.

What are the Benefits of Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift)?

There are many benefits of receiving eyelid surgery with Dr. Breister Ghosh and her medical team, including:

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes
  • Addresses drooping upper eyelids
  • Minimizes puffy under-eye bags
  • Creates a more youthful and alert appearance
  • May improve vision disrupted by drooping skin
  • Boosts overall confidence

What is the Difference Between Upper Blepharoplasty & Lower Blepharoplasty?

Dr. Breister Ghosh offers her patients both upper and lower blepharoplasty. While these two procedures are both considered an eyelid lift, they provide patients with different yet complementary results. An upper blepharoplasty focuses on reducing excess skin from the upper eyelids. Removing sagging skin from the upper eyelids gives the eyes a wider and brighter appearance. It may also improve vision disrupted by drooping upper eyelids. Lower blepharoplasty, on the other hand, focuses on reducing fatty deposits under the eyes. These fatty bags contribute to the appearance of puffy and tired-looking under-eyes. While upper and lower blepharoplasty may be performed separately, our patients often receive both upper and lower blepharoplasty together for ultimate results.

How is Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift) Performed?

Your eyelid surgery will be performed by Dr. Breister Ghosh in an accredited outpatient surgical center. For an upper eyelid lift, an incision will be carefully made in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. For a lower eyelid lift, an incision will be made along the lower lash line. Each of the incisions will be placed in such a way so when they are healed, they are nearly invisible and blend in with the natural creases of the eyelids. Dr. Breister Ghosh will then remove the appropriate amount of excess skin and fat through these incisions to give the patient a natural, refreshed look without compromising the important, necessary functions of the eyelids. The entirety of your blepharoplasty may take up to 1 to 2 hours to complete.

What Can I Expect After My Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift)?

Following your eyelid surgery, swelling and bruising around your treated areas will be normal. Dr. Breister Ghosh will provide you with a detailed set of post-operative care instructions to follow for a swift and easy recovery. We often encourage our patients to ice their treated areas often to reduce excess swelling and bruising. Patients should talk with Dr. Breister Ghosh about the physical demands of their job, but should usually plan for around 5 to 7 days off work.

How Much Will My Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift) Cost?

The cost of your eyelid lift will likely vary depending on the extent of treatment needed to help you achieve your desired results. To get a more accurate estimate of the cost of your blepharoplasty, we encourage you to schedule your private consultation with Dr. Breister Ghosh. For your convenience, we are happy to offer flexible financing options that allow you to pay for your procedure at your own pace.
