Facelift & Neck Lift
General Procedure Information
There are a large number of reasons why both men and women choose to have a face and/or neck lift. Patients may feel that the wrinkles on their face and neck make them appear older than their actual age. Many patients dislike the jowls and sagginess around the neck, and feel they would be more confident if their neck was smoother and more toned. Some patients may have lost a significant amount of weight and have remaining excess skin around the jowls and neck area.
Aging is inevitable, and while moisturizers and anti-aging products may have some effect, they won’t provide the noticeable, long lasting results that a face and neck lift can. This procedure helps restore freshness and firmness to the face and neck, providing patients with a more rested, smooth appearance.
Dr. Breister Ghosh understands having a facial procedure can be overwhelming for some patients. During the consultation process, she thoroughly discusses each patient’s goals and concerns. It is normal for patient’s to be nervous about looking like they’ve had “work done”. Using her extensive training and knowledge, Dr. Breister Ghosh is very meticulous in making sure patients are not left with a “pulled” look. Her patients can rest assured that they will be left with very natural results after having any facial procedure.
About the Surgery
The Procedure Incisions are made strategically around the ear so that when they heal, they are nearly invisible and concealed within natural contours. Excess skin is removed, and underlying structures are tightened. If necessary, excess fat underneath the chin is removed. Incisions are closed with small sutures. If desired, patients can add on other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), earlobe reduction/repair, fillers, or fat grafting.
Procedure Length Approximately 2-3 hours under general anesthesia.
Surgery Location Accredited, outpatient surgical facility with the support of a board-certified anesthesiologist.
Recovery After surgery, a head dressing is placed around the patient’s head and neck for gentle compression. It is normal to have swelling and bruising. Healing time varies from patient to patient. Some people recover very quickly and are ready to be seen in 8-10 days. Total recovery may take several weeks. Patients should talk with Dr. Breister Ghosh about the physical demands of their job, but should usually plan for around 2-3 weeks off work.
Duration of Results Permanent, but overtime, aging will still occur.
